Supporting neurodivergent clients with hoarding and clutter
For many people with ADHD, autism or OCD, the relationship with belongings, space and change is deeply personal and often complex. Standard clearance approaches can cause significant distress — which is why our service is built around the needs of the individual, not a fixed process.
We work exclusively through professional referrals from housing associations, local authorities, social care teams, NHS services and support organisations. If you are working with a neurodivergent client whose home situation requires specialist input, we are here to help.
How we adapt our approach
Client-led pace
There is no pressure to do more than the client is ready for. Sessions move at a speed that feels manageable and safe for the individual.
No judgement, ever
We have worked with clients in all kinds of situations. Individuals will never be made to feel embarrassed or ashamed about their home or their belongings.
Clear communication
We explain what we are doing and why, check in regularly, and ensure the client feels in control of every decision throughout the process.
Consistent team members
Where possible, we aim to send the same team member to each visit so clients are not having to build trust with a new person every time.
Flexible sessions
If you need a break, need to stop early, or need to change the plan on the day — that is absolutely fine. We work around you. (note: session charged in full)
Sensitive to sensory needs
We are mindful of noise, smell and disruption during sessions, and will work with referring professionals to minimise anything that may cause distress.
Experience working with
ADHD
We understand how difficulty with decision-making, object permanence and emotional attachment to items can make decluttering feel overwhelming. We help break tasks into small, manageable steps.
Autism
We respect routines, sensory sensitivities and the importance of familiarity. We will never move or remove anything without the client's agreement, and we communicate clearly throughout.
OCD
We work carefully and without rushing, understanding that compulsive behaviours around keeping or organising items are not a choice. We support without adding pressure or anxiety.
Information for referring professionals
If you are a social worker, nurse/dr or cpn at cmht, housing officer looking for support for someone who is neurodivergent, we are happy to discuss the best approach before any visit takes place.
We can work alongside existing support networks and adapt our involvement to complement the care already in place. Joint visits with the referring professional can be arranged where appropriate.

Coordination charge
All new quotes include a coordination charge. It is priced on the case's risk level and Clutter Image Rating (CIR) score, and clearly itemised in every quote. It covers multi-agency meetings, joint visits, phone calls and messages from the client between sessions, managing cancellations or no-answers, and the wider unseen work that keeps a case moving.
Two coordination options — your choice
Full coordination
We take on all case coordination on your behalf. This includes attending multi-agency and MDT meetings, completing joint visits, liaising with other professionals, managing missed appointments, and providing written progress reports. Suitable for cases where your team has limited capacity or where the complexity of the case warrants a dedicated coordination lead.
Part coordination
You retain the coordination lead and we contribute to it. We will attend meetings when invited, provide reports on request, and flag concerns as they arise — but the day-to-day case management remains with your team. Suitable for cases where a professional relationship is already established and our role is primarily the practical work.
